Abu Dhabi launches dedicated travel health clinic

Services include tailored consultations, immunisations and medical certificates

Abu Dhabi has opened a dedicated travel health clinic ahead of the busy summer season, designed to give travellers “peace of mind both during their journey and upon their return”.

Located at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in the UAE capital, the clinic offers a specialised and comprehensive suite of medical services around the clock for travellers departing from or arriving into the UAE.

The clinic provides pre-travel consultations, offering destination-specific health advice tailored to individual itineraries and health profiles, including preventative measures against infectious diseases such malaria, as well as non-infectious conditions like altitude sickness.

Essential immunisations for international travel, including yellow fever and meningococcal disease are also available.

Post-travel evaluations form a core part of the clinic’s offering, with expert clinical assessments and management of febrile illnesses or specific exposure concerns.

The clinic also facilitates certified medical fitness assessments required by UAE-based foreign embassies and works closely with corporate partners, embassies and insurance providers to ensure safe and well-prepared travel for all clients.

The clinic is supported by a multidisciplinary team of infectious disease doctors, travel health nurses, pharmacists and laboratory staff.

Commenting on the opening, Dr Zahir Babiker, Interim Division Chair of Tropical and Infectious Diseases and Consultant at SSMC said: “The launch of our dedicated Travel Health Clinic reflects our leadership in tropical and travel medicine, providing expert, comprehensive support to ensure individuals are well-prepared, protected and confident when they travel.”

To book a travel consultation, a WhatsApp contact number is available, along with the Travel Health Clinic’s website, the SEHA App, or if in the UAE, by calling 800 7762.
