DXB expects to welcome 4.3 million guests in first 15 days of 2025
With visitors over the holiday season and expat residents returning from their home countries, Dubai International airport (DXB) is predicting a record start to 2025.
DXB says it expects to welcome 4.3 million guests in the first 15 days of the new year alone, with a peak on 3 January of more than 311,000.
The daily average of 287,000 guests passing through DXB is 8% up on the same period in 2024, and 6% higher than pre-pandemic levels – while many other airports are still operating below 2019 levels.
According to OAG, the leading data platform for the global travel industry, in December 2024 DXB overtook Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) to be the World’s Busiest Airport with 5.3 million seats – a 5% increase in seats per day compared to last month.

With DXB now predicting its busiest January ever, the world’s leading airport for international passengers is expected to post total guests of 92 million in 2024 – up from 87 million in 2023.
In May last year, a US$35 billion expansion plan was announced for Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) as part of the emirate’s vision for the aviation landscape.
Over the next 10 years, DWC will serve 150 million passengers a year, and eventually have capacity for 260 million passengers.
